Pleasing God (# 4)

We are still in the study of pleasing God by our obedience. Last time we studied 1Sam. 15:22..and even got into verse 23 of that chapter. Today we are looking at Duet. 10:12-13.

12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?


Israel of course were God's people..today God's people are all those who have been born into the family of God through the second birth. This verse was written to the Jews of that day..but it still holds true for God's people today. The Lord still requires that we fear Him, that we walk in His ways and love Him. John 15:10 Jesus said, " If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." Christ loves believers unconditionally. But as believers obey Christ's Word and abide in His love, we come to experience and understand His love for us more and more (see Eph.3:14-19).

God wants us to serve the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls. He wants us to keep His commandments and His statutes..which is for our good. We cannot half heartedly serve the Lord but we must give it our all. It is not a Sunday only way of life , but one that requires an every day of the week service and walk with God.

If we want to please the Lord we will obey His commands to fear (respect) Him, we will walk in all His ways and love Him, we will serve the Lord our God with all our hearts, mind and everything within us, and keep His commandments..which are for our good. Jesus also told his disciples....."If anyone loves Me, he will keep my Word: and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." John 14:23

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father..help us to obey the commandments of Your Word and Your Spirit, help us to worship You in Spirit and in Truth..for You desire this of us. Strengthen us, build us up by Your Spirit, guide and direct us into walking in Your Word. This we ask in Jesus Name...Amen
